The Finnish Network for Sustainable Mining has approved the guiding principles to its sustainability standard for mining. The document has now been translated into English and is freely available from its webpages.

The network will now concentrate on the implementation of the new standard. Some 15 mining companies operating in Finland have pledged to start phasing in the standard.

The network will organise on 23 March a training course on the implementation of two key protocols, water and tailings management. Similar events are scheduled on further protocols later in the year.
